Born in rural Tennessee, Corey B. Shipley’s journey of perseverance and justice began early—and it’s taken him far beyond those humble roots. A standout student-athlete at Greeneville High School, Corey earned a football scholarship to Tusculum University, where he demonstrated leadership and discipline as a starting linebacker. These qualities laid the foundation for his future fight in the courtroom.

Graduating summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 2009, Corey then specialized in maritime and admiralty law in Charleston, South Carolina. There, he sharpened his skills as editor-in-chief of the school’s Maritime Law Journal, earned a prestigious Manhattan internship, and consistently dominated national moot court and arbitration competitions, proving his prowess and poise under pressure.

Just weeks into his legal career, Corey claimed his first win of many future jury trials—an early indication of the tenacity and talent that define his practice. In 2015, he left private practice for the United States Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant United States Attorney, he prosecuted hundreds of federal cases ranging from complex financial fraud to multi-defendant conspiracies, routinely navigating both domestic and international matters.

In 2017, Corey transitioned back into private practice, harnessing his prosecutorial prowess to vigorously represent clients in criminal defense and personal injury cases worldwide. His aggressive advocacy has resulted in major victories, including significant civil recoveries and high-stakes criminal acquittals.

In 2025, Corey founded the Shipley Law Firm in alliance with nationally renowned Eric J. Hertz, P.C., broadening his scope to mass tort litigation while maintaining his commitment to personal injury and criminal defense.
